How to quote a landscaping job: the short answer
To quote a landscaping job, walk the site, write the scope, price each service as its own line, offer extras as options, ask for a deposit when the client approves and follow up if the quote goes quiet.
How to price a landscaping job is step three, and the rates are yours to set.

Try Jobber →Write the scope and what the quote leaves out
Start with a site visit. Jobber’s landscaping bidding guide lists skipping it as the first mistake to avoid. Jobber’s pricing guide then asks about location, size, hazards, time limit, services, special requests and materials.
Then write the scope as the quote will state it. Jobber calls a quote a firm price and an estimate a rough, non-binding range. Add a line for anything the work does not include and for how long the quote stays valid; Jobber’s landscaping estimate template page lists both.
Jobber keeps quote templates on all plans, so a scope you write once can be reused. A lawn quote follows the same steps in how to quote a lawn care job.
Price the lines, and offer extras as options
Jobber names two pricing methods. An hourly rate adds labor, overhead and the profit you want, then divides by billable hours; Jobber says it suits a new business still learning how long jobs take. A fixed price adds labor, materials and overhead, then profit. Jobber calls underestimating labor and materials the biggest risk of a fixed price. Jobber saves services and unit prices in a Products & Services list.
Then add extras as optional lines. An optional line item lets the client choose additional services on top of the quoted lines, and the quote total adjusts as they choose. Jobber’s help center gives gold, silver and bronze seasonal packages as a landscaping example. Optional line items, quote images and markups are on the Grow plan and up. A markup is set on each line, and only you see the gap between cost and price.
Take a deposit when the client approves
A deposit is paid at approval, before the work starts. Jobber lets a quote require a one-time payment when the client approves it, as a percentage of the total or a fixed amount. With Jobber Payments, Jobber’s built-in card processing, switched on, the client pays it from client hub, Jobber’s self-serve page where clients approve quotes, check appointments and pay invoices. A percentage deposit follows the optional lines the client picks.
Card payments through Jobber Payments cost 2.9% + 30¢ each, as read on October 23, 2026. Jobber’s collection guide notes that deposit rules vary by state, and this is not legal advice.
Follow up, then turn the yes into a job
A quiet quote may only be a missed one, Jobber’s follow-up guide says. Jobber’s guides name times from two to three days up to a week or two for the first follow-up, so pick one and keep to it. How to follow up on a quote covers the wording. In Jobber, quote follow-ups start on the Connect plan: you set the days after the quote is sent, up to 90, for up to two reminders.
Jobber says an approved quote becomes a job with a single click. Jobber’s Grow plan, $199 a month for one user, billed monthly with no commitment and before sales tax, adds optional line items and markups to quotes that clients approve online, with the deposit taken through Jobber Payments. The best field service software for small business list sets Jobber beside its rivals.
Optional lines on a landscaping quote can be tried in the 14-day trial, which runs on Grow features. A few quotes a month can run on paper or in a spreadsheet; move when follow-ups, deposits and extras outgrow that.
