How to get customers to pay on time: the short answer
To get customers to pay on time, state the payment terms before the job, send the invoice the day the job ends with a card or bank pay link, take a deposit on bigger jobs and send reminders before and after the due date.

Try Jobber →Set payment terms and send the invoice the day the job ends
Jobber’s guide lists what to state before the job: the payment methods you accept, when payment is due, whether a deposit is required and when you will send the invoice. Put the due date and payment instructions on the invoice, since Jobber says a client will not know payment is due if none is sent.
Jobber lets you choose payment terms from due upon receipt through Net 7, 15, 30, 45 and 60. In Jobber, you generate a digital invoice when the job is done and send it by text or email; batch invoicing creates invoices for several finished jobs at once.
Make paying one tap: card, bank and pay links
With Jobber, clients pay by card or bank from the quote, the invoice or client hub, Jobber’s self-serve page where clients approve quotes and pay invoices. A bank payment is an ACH transfer, US only.
Jobber Payments, Jobber’s built-in payment processing run by Stripe, charges 2.9% + 30¢ on a card, 2.7% + 30¢ on Tap to Pay, a card tapped on your phone, and 1% on a bank payment, as read on October 23, 2026. A bank payment takes about four business days to reach your account. How to accept credit cards as a contractor covers pay links, Tap to Pay and payouts.
Deposits and cards on file for recurring work
Ask for a deposit on bigger jobs. In Jobber, a quote can require a deposit as a percentage or a fixed amount, collected when the client approves it. Payment schedules, on all four plans, split a job into a deposit and progress invoices. Jobber’s guide says deposit rules vary by state.
For repeat work, a client can save a card or bank account in client hub, and Jobber Payments must be on. From the Connect plan, automatic payments then charge the saved method for each recurring job.
Automatic reminders that stop once the invoice is paid
Jobber’s automated invoice follow-up gives the client a one-click way to pay. You set the days after the due date, for up to two reminders on a past-due invoice. An invoice reminder in Jobber’s help center is something else: a prompt to you to create an invoice.
For late fees, Jobber’s late-fee guide points to a disclaimer that applies to every outgoing invoice. Late-fee rules vary by state, and this is not legal advice.
Jobber’s Connect plan, $139 a month for one user, billed monthly with no commitment and before sales tax, reminds clients automatically by email or text that an invoice is due and stops once it is paid. Invoices can go out from Jobber’s 14-day trial, which runs on Grow features.
Core, $49 a month for one user with no commitment, has no automatic invoice reminders.
